ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE & INTEGRITY & VALUE

NNHS has won the state math contest the last 9 years in a row and 12 out of the last 13 years (1994-2006). The year it did not win, it took 2nd place. The 3 years prior to that (1991-94) the team was 2nd, 4th and 2nd. So, NNHS has won state trophies in each of the last 16 years.

NNHS was NSML champion this year.

NCHS has finished in the top 10 in the ICTM math contest the last nine years.  Last year NCHS ('05/'06) was the Illinois Math League champions.  NCHS has also finished second to North in the DVC competition every year and second to North at the same ICTM Regional competition the last seven years.

Dan Denys told us and posted on his website that he doesn't send his child to Naperville schools because the math program isn't good enough:

"It was a decision that came as a result of comparing District 203's high school math curriculum to Benet's. District 203 should seriously re-evaluate its curriculum if students are chosing Benet for academic reasons."

On 3/28/07, the Daily Herald quotes D Denys as follows:

"...high school represented another choice. One strong interest of my children is math. Central, the school in our attendance area, does not offer as extensive math program as North or Benet."

In the latest Illinois Math League contests both Naperville High Schools beat Benet Academy in the team scores (total of top 5 from each school).

Naperville North HS
120
150
Naperville Central HS
118
148
Benet HS
109
137

Both schools also placed several students in the top individual scores category. 2006 results are similar, Naperville High Schools consistently beating Benet and in February '06 Central beat both North and Benet. We don't understand what Dan is saying, why does he think Naperville High Schools are not as good as Benet?

Dan: how did you compare the curriculums and what do you suggest should be changed? And what is the real reason for your dislike of the Naperville public schools?
